Valli - The wood and its Fruit
 Into
the wide green area near Casa Valli it is possible to go for long
walk to look for the fruits that the wood offers during the different
seasons and that are the basic ingredients of the typical kitchen.
In various period of the year, wise housewives know where to find
the aromatic grasses, the asparagues and different kind of delicate
and fragrant mushrooms which the season makes available to them
to cook excellent pastas and soups.
Very tasty chestnuts called "marroni" are picked up
for the "castagnate" and to be preserved as jams or
flour of chestnuts, to use then for cakes and polente. The wood
strawberries are excellent for fruit salads and are refined ingredient
for distilled and liquors. Dark hips, raspberries and sambuco
become jams showed in the shelves of the houses, unfailing ingredients
in the breakfast of all the inhabitants of the area. So a territory
is turned into tradition and tradition become food: so the territory
can be tasted and smelt.
